Today Mariah decided to hold her own bottle! I know she is 10 months so she should know how to hold her own bottle, but she has never really gotten a chance to practice because I have been breastfeeding her .Oh and the update on that... I have been giving her formula for about a month and a half now, after she got her 2nd tooth she didnt want anything to do with breastfeeding I mean i tried everything, so I got to breastfeed  for 9 months which  was a blessing. But yea she is holding her own bottle and sippy cup and she is eating table food basically whatever we eat i give her some and she loves food!!! lol

"Nursing Strike"

okay for real I have never heard of such a thing as a "nursing strike" have you? Mariah has decided she doesn't want to nurse... La Lech League has a forum up about this and they call it a nursing strike they say that some babies all of a sudden refuse to nurse for several different reasons :

Nursing strikes happen for many reasons. They are almost always a temporary reaction to an external factor, although sometimes their cause is never determined. Here are some of the most common triggers of nursing strikes:
  • You've changed your deodorant, soap, perfume, lotion, etc. and you smell "different" to your baby.
  • You've been under stress (such as having extra company, traveling, moving, dealing with a family crisis).
  • Your baby or toddler has an illness or injury that makes nursing uncomfortable (an ear infection, a stuffy nose, thrush, a cut in the mouth).
  • Your baby has sore gums from teething.
  • You've recently changed your nursing patterns (started a new job, left the baby with a sitter more than usual, put off nursing because of being busy, etc.).
  • You reacted strongly when your baby bit you, and the baby was frightened.
I think she is on strike because of her teeth and she bit once and i cried and then she cried so now she is afraid to nurse ugghhh. This just reminds me how sensitive babies are.

The good news is that this usually don't last long ... so i have been pumping at her feeding times to prevent engorgement , keep up my milk supply and have milk to give her when she is hungry ( i have been getting 10 oz every time i pump) .

Cant wait till this little strike is over

Nuk bottles are pretty good well she likes them anyway

Safety First double electronic pump my new best friend

If yall have an tips or advise about what i can do to get her nursing again please i would love the help!!

Whats for Dinner?

This weeks Meal plan!!

Monday: Lemon peppered Talapia brown rice and steamed veggies

Tuesday: Chicken and spinach Florentine (I got this recipe off the back of a rice package..it will be my first attempt)

Wednesday: Dinner Out ( we go to a couples night at a friends)

Thursday: Bean, beef and cheese burritos add your own toppings

Friday: Chili with black beans and rice

Tonights Meal: Lemon pepper Talapia, brown rice and steamed mixed veggies

thaw talapia and then season with black pepper, season salt and lemon pepper. Oil pan with olive oil and then   cook fish until it has the texture you desire ( i cook it for about 10 min). cook brown rice  for 7-5 min and then let it stand for 5 min. I used frozen mixed veggies so i justed boiled some water and then added the veggies i let them cook for 7 min. and then added salt and pepper :)

The Talapia is all broken up, it got stuck to the pan :( but it still tasted good
 Happy Monday!!
